Hawk Fans,
This month’s newsletter is dedicated to our hard working Inner Circle members – without your support we would not be in the position we are today – Thank you! And if you’re not an Inner Circle Member already, we need your help! Join our recurring giving group today and make a huge impact on our team.
Your donations directly support athletes with living expenses, domestic and international events, training camps, equipment, nutrition, and recovery tools. Your monthly gift also allows our team to recruit talented training partners and teammates for our current HWC athletes.
Thank you for allowing us to chase down our goals!
Club Update
Last month Austin DeSanto (61kg) competed in Omaha, Nebraska at the Non-Olympic Weight Class Senior World Team Trials. DeSanto defeated Jax Forrest, a high school phenom from Bishop McCort, PA 9-6 and then fell to Daton Fix 6-0 in the semifinals. Vito Arujau won the bracket and will be Team USA’s representative at the World Championships in late October.
We have a few changes to our roster so we want to make sure you know exactly who you’re supporting! The HWC roster consists of: Olympic Silver Medalist – Spencer Lee, 5X All-American – Jacob Warner, 4X All-Americans – Austin DeSanto, Jaydin Eierman, Alex Marinelli, and Brandon Sorensen, and 3X All-American – Kaleb Young! Recent departures are Pat Lugo, Jeremiah Moody, and Tony Cassioppi.
Lugo moved back to Florida to start the Miami Hawks Wrestling Club and to live near his family. Moody is still living in Coralville with his wife, Nikol while pursuing a new career in personal fitness – Moody Movement, and Cassioppi was hired by the Wisconsin Badgers as an Assistant Wrestling Coach.
We’re so excited for each of these great Hawkeyes, and wish them the best as they start this next chapter of their lives!
