A new school year is underway and we are so grateful for the team our coaches have assembled and the hard work our guys put in this summer — it’s going to make for a very fun 2025-26 season!!

Last weekend, Leister Bowling (77kg) competed at the U20 Greco-Roman World Championships in Bulgaria. Bowling won his first bout against BUL 3-1, and then fell to the eventual champion from GEO 0-9. The next day Bowling beat KAZ 8-4 in his repechage match and then fell in the bronze medal bout 0-9 to RUS, bringing home 5th place. Bowling is an incoming freshman from Mead, CO.
This month, athletes from across the globe will travel to Zagreb, Croatia for the 2025 UWW Senior World Wrestling Championships! The Championships will consist of 3 disciplines — freestyle (FS), greco-roman (GR), women’s wrestling (WW) — and 10 weight categories per discipline. We have three World Team Members competing in this year’s competition: Spencer Lee-57kg (FS) 🇺🇸, Kennedy Blades-68kg (WW) 🇺🇸, Victor Voinovich III-70kg (FS) 🇷🇸 .
Lee & Blades will be representing America 🇺🇸while Voinovich will be wrestling for Serbia 🇷🇸. Here is a complete list of registered athletes for the 2025 World Championships: Freestyle | Women’s | Greco

Our team is adding eight new faces to our veteran team, including four transfers; Nasir Bailey and Jordan Williams are joining us by way of Arkansas Little Rock, Massoma Endene via Wartburg College, and Dean Peterson from Rutgers. We also have four incoming freshmen: Leister Bowling (CO), Leo Deluca (NJ), Harvey Ludington (NJ), and Tyrel Miller (OH)!
Our squad has five (5) returning All-Americans: Drake Ayala, Micheal Caliendo, Patrick Kennedy, Ben Kueter, and transfer Nasir Bailey (Little Rock). Along with two NCAA qualifiers Joey Cruz, and Gabe Arnold. We also have a few other Hawks that saw action last year that are pretty dang tough too… Angelo Ferrari, Miguel Estrada, Kale Petersen, Ryder Block and the Voinovich brothers.

We are also hosting our annual Sporting Clays Trap Shoot event on Saturday, October 11. Come support the Athletes, Coaches, and Staff of the Hawkeye Wrestling Club while hitting an abundance of clays at one of the most scenic ranges in Eastern Iowa! Hope to see you there!
And before you know it we will be launching our infamous Arctic Plunge!!! Once the season schedule is out we will set a date for this fun event! We really hope to Blow it Out of the Water this year, so please join us!!
