Hawkeyes!
Now that the school year is behind us, our summer training/rest/recovery phase is in full swing. Last summer, Tony Cassioppi made huge strides in the off-season with strength coach Alex Harmer. We can’t wait to see who utilizes their off-season the best! When school reconvenes this fall we will get our first look at the 2023-24 team at our coveted Pre-Game Open Practices! Football Saturdays are so much better when there’s Hawkeye wrestling!
We are sending Real Woods, Abe Assad, Patrick Kennedy, and Dan Dennis to Italy this month for a week-long European Tour. The three Hawks will compete and train abroad to gain valuable experience that will enhance their wrestling for the 2023-24 season and beyond!
Our club members had a busy freestyle season competing in New York, Spain, France, Egypt, Las Vegas, Colorado Springs and in Ohio. Traveling to events like these would not be possible without you and our Inner Circle Members! Your financial support to our organization is impacting our athletes’ lives in a meaningful way every single day by giving them opportunities they wouldn’t otherwise have… That’s what sets the HWC and the University of Iowa apart! Thank you so much for believing in our team and for supporting our pursuit of excellence!
The University of Iowa is hosting over 1,000 young wrestlers at the Xtream Arena from June 18th through July 10th at the annual Iowa Wrestling Camps! All coaches, athletes and managers will be helping Bobby Telford host one of the best and biggest wrestling camps in the nation! As Associate Head Coach Terry Brands put it best, our goal is “to positively shape student-athletes’ morals, minds and bodies by teaching our men to terrorize on the mat, yet be perfect gentlemen in society.”
This is also a great volunteer training phase for our Iowa student-athletes as they get to spend additional time on the mats honing their skills and the skills of their campers. As many of you know, this year we are celebrating the 50th Year Anniversary of our club! We are excited to bring you fun graphics, merchandise, and content all year long! We only celebrate our 50th once, so everything we put out is limited edition and won’t be replicated!
