Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! The HWC is thankful to have the best fans on the planet to support our club and the Iowa Wrestling team!
There will be an open Practice Friday before the Nebraska game in the Dan Gable Wrestling complex at 10 a.m.
Speaking of support… Many of you see our guys/gals being represented by the HWC and Titan Mercury Wrestling Club. Titan Mercury Wrestling Club has been a BIG supporter of USA Wrestling. They assist us in travel and financial support on many levels. I have personally gotten to know Wayne Boyd and Andy Barth and to put it quite simply, they care about the sport. So much so that they invest a LOT of personal money to help individuals and clubs.
With that said… They deserve our support. They are the people behind American Wrestling League (AWL). We have three HWC athletes competing: Cory Clark, Brandon Sorensen, and Sam Brooks. If this event works well, it means athletes like this will have an opportunity to make money and get exposure.
Below is a letter from some names you might recognize:
Dear Wrestling Fans, HWC supporters, and Hawkeye Fans,
It’s seldom in American History that our wonderful sport of wrestling has a chance to go Professional which will help the sport on all levels from beginning to end for a long time to come. Dreams, visions and hard work create greatness. We’re honored that Iowa was chosen as the inaugural location for the American Wrestling League.
Andy Barth and Wayne Boyd, who mean a lot to us and have always answered the bell, are calling on the Iowa Wrestling fans, YOU, to fill the US Cellular Center’s 6000 seats on Friday, November 30th, the night before the Iowa vs. Iowa State meet. Together we can have a fabulous and successful Wrestling Weekend when we accomplish our goals. “GO HAWKS”
Sincerely–
Coach Dan Gable
